A walnut cat scratcher side table is an end table in a dark Walnut finish with natural sisal on the side that faces your sofa arm. The CozeCat Side Table in Walnut comes in Left, Right or Pair, 3 heights from 21.5 to 25.5 in, from $169.99, with $43.86 replaceable mats.

What is a walnut cat scratcher side table?
It is one piece of furniture doing two jobs. The top is a real end table for a lamp, a coffee or a stack of books, rated for up to 50 lb. The side that faces your sofa is covered in natural sisal, the coarse plant fiber cats like to drag their claws through. Because the table stands flush against the arm, the sisal sits exactly where most cats already scratch.
The Walnut version uses a plywood frame with a warm, dark Walnut finish. It is not solid walnut, and we say so up front. What you get is a stable, good-looking table at a price well under most solid-wood scratcher tables.
Why choose the Walnut finish?
Walnut tones belong in rooms with darker wood, leather and deep upholstery. It is the easier match if your living room has:
- mid-century modern pieces, such as tapered legs, teak or walnut sideboards,
- dark floors in walnut, espresso or smoked oak,
- leather or deep-colored sofas in cognac, charcoal, navy or forest green.
In those rooms, a pale scratcher stands out as "pet gear". A Walnut table reads as part of the furniture set. If your room is light and airy, the maple cat scratcher side table is usually the better fit.
| If your room has… | Consider |
|---|---|
| Dark floors, mid-century pieces, leather | Walnut |
| Light floors, Scandinavian or Japandi style | Maple |
| Mixed woods | Match the closest piece of furniture |
Which side and height fit your sofa?
Side. Stand facing your sofa. If your cat goes for the left arm, choose Left; for the right arm, choose Right. If both arms are scratched, the Pair covers both and costs less than two singles. Our guide to what a pair of scratcher tables really costs runs the numbers.
Height. Measure the arm at the front corner, from the floor to the top. Pick the closest height that does not tower over it:
| Your sofa arm height | Pick |
|---|---|
| Under 23.5 in | 21.5 in (base) |
| 23.5 in to just under 25.5 in | 23.5 in (2" riser) |
| 25.5 in or more | 25.5 in (4" riser) |

How do you get your cat to use it?
Cats scratch where the habit already is, so placement does most of the work. The Ohio State Indoor Pet Initiative recommends putting a scratcher right where your cat already scratches and rewarding them for using it.
- Slide the table flush against the arm your cat scratches, sisal facing the way your cat approaches.
- Rub a little catnip or silvervine into the sisal.
- When your cat heads for the couch, guide them to the sisal and praise or treat them.
- Cover any still-exposed part of the arm with a throw or tape for 2 to 4 weeks while the habit moves.
The ASPCA also suggests trimming nails regularly and never punishing scratching, which is normal cat behavior.

Does the walnut finish hold up to daily use?
The cat scratches the sisal, not the wood, so the finish mostly sees normal table wear: cups, keys, a lamp. Use a coaster for hot or wet drinks, wipe spills promptly, and lift rather than drag heavy items across the top. When the sisal wears thin, peel the Velcro-backed mat off and press a new one on.
What about shipping and returns?
We offer Next-day shipping from our Dallas, Texas warehouse, and shipping is free on orders over $99. You also get 30-day returns: 30 days from delivery, for unused items in the original packaging. Keep the box until you have checked the height against your sofa.
