Will a Corner Scratcher Table Fit My Sofa? Rolled Arms, Recliners and Armless Sofas

by Sebastian Frank on Oct 23, 2026
Corner scratcher table rolled arm sofa: walnut-finish CozeCat Side Table with a sisal side placed against the arm of a beige sofa

Quick answer: A corner scratcher table fits most sofas if the arm height is close to one of its heights and the arm side is flat enough for the scratching panel. The CozeCat Side Table comes in 21.5, 23.5 and 25.5 inches. Rolled arms and sectionals usually work. Recliners need a gap check, and armless sofas need a different setup.

"Will it fit my sofa?" comes up again and again under scratcher-table videos: rolled arms, power recliners, armless sofas, even bed frames. Here is how to check fit in five minutes before you order.

Measure first, then choose

Measure your sofa arm height from the floor to the top of the arm. The CozeCat Side Table comes in three heights (21.5, 23.5 and 25.5 inches with the riser options) and two finishes, Walnut and Maple, so you can match both the arm and the room.

Compare heights and finishes →

What should I measure first?

  1. Arm height: floor to the highest point of the arm.
  2. Arm side shape: is the outside face of the arm flat, slightly rolled or strongly curved?
  3. Floor clearance: any skirt, legs or recliner mechanism next to the arm?
  4. Space beside the arm: room for a side table next to the sofa.

Then match the arm height to the closest CozeCat Side Table height: 21.5 inches (no riser), 23.5 inches (2-inch riser) or 25.5 inches (4-inch riser). Our measuring guide with diagram shows where to put the tape.

How do I measure a rolled arm sofa for a corner scratcher table?

Rolled arms curve outward, so a tape measure placed at the outermost point gives the wrong number. Use this method:

  1. Find where your cat scratches. On rolled arms, cats usually scratch the front face and the side just below the roll.
  2. Measure floor to the top of the roll. Hold a straight edge, such as a book, flat on the highest point and measure from the floor to its underside.
  3. Measure the overhang. Measure how far the roll sticks out from the straight side below it. If the roll overhangs by more than 2 to 3 inches, the table will sit slightly back from the arm, so put the sisal side facing the spot your cat targets.
  4. Choose the height. Pick the CozeCat height at or just below the top of the roll: 21.5, 23.5 or 25.5 inches. A table a little lower than the roll still covers the area cats reach while stretching.

A corner scratcher table works on most rolled arm sofas because cats scratch at full stretch, which is usually below the roll. If you are unsure, our step-by-step measuring guide has diagrams for each arm style, and the CozeCat Side Table page lists the exact dimensions for each height.

Rolled arms with loose cushions

Some rolled-arm sofas have a loose arm cushion or bolster. Measure with the cushion in place, because that is the height your cat sees. If the cushion slides, a table pushed flush helps hold it in place.

Does it work with rolled or curved arms?

Usually yes. The scratching panel stands next to the arm, so a gently rolled arm just leaves a small gap at the top. Your cat still scratches the panel. With a strongly rolled arm, the gap at the outside face is larger, so check that the most-scratched area of the arm sits behind the panel. If your cat scratches the curve at the very top, add a throw over the top of the arm for a few weeks.

Will it fit a recliner?

For manual and power recliners, check that the reclining mechanism does not need the space beside the arm. Many recliners move forward and back without touching the side, so a table beside the arm is fine. Leave a small gap so the mechanism and any side buttons stay clear. Our sectional and recliner page shows example setups, and the CozeCat Side Table page lists exact heights.

What about sectionals and chaise ends?

Sectionals have fewer exposed arms but often a chaise end your cat likes to scratch. The CozeCat works against the arm, at a chaise end or at a front or back corner. If your cat scratches two exposed ends, see covering both sides.

Can I use it with an armless sofa or a bed?

There is no arm to sit flush against, so the table works as a standalone scratcher and side table at the corner your cat targets. It still gives a vertical sisal surface at the right spot. For beds and nightstand spots, measure the mattress height and choose the closest table height.

How do the height options compare?

If your arm is over 27 inches, be aware that the CozeCat's tallest height is 25.5 inches. Your cat may still use it well, so watch how high it reaches when it stretches.

Which side do I need?

Facing the sofa, a table on the left arm is a Left and one on the right arm is a Right. A Pair includes both. See Left or Right? How to pick and the small-apartment page for tight layouts.

What fit questions do shoppers ask most?

In comment threads under corner scratcher table videos, fit questions come up again and again. Shoppers ask about rolled and curved arms, power recliners, sectionals, armless sofas and even beds. Many say they love the idea but are unsure it suits their furniture. The checks above answer most of these in a few minutes.

What should I do if my sofa is between two heights?

Pick the lower option if your cat scratches mainly at the side of the arm, and the higher option if it reaches over the top. When in doubt, measure where the scratch marks stop and choose the height that covers them.

How much space does a corner table need?

You need room beside the arm for a side table, plus a clear approach so your cat can reach the sisal side head-on. Check that doors, radiators and recliner mechanisms are not in the way.

What about leather, velvet and microfiber sofas?

The table protects the arm the same way whatever the fabric, because the cat scratches the sisal instead. Fabric does affect how visible old damage is, and how well a temporary cover stays put. See the leather couch page and the velvet and microfiber page for fabric-specific tips.

Can I move the table later?

Yes. It is freestanding, so you can move it to another sofa, a chaise or a bed corner if your cat changes favorite spots. Choose a height that suits the furniture you are most likely to use it with. If you are moving soon, measure the arm of the sofa you will keep longest, since that is where the table will spend most of its life.

FAQ: corner scratcher table rolled arm sofa

What sofa arm height does the CozeCat fit?

It comes in 21.5, 23.5 and 25.5 inches. Choose the height closest to your arm height, measured from the floor to the top of the arm.

Does a corner scratcher work with rolled arms?

Usually yes. The panel stands next to the arm. A strongly rolled arm leaves a gap at the top, so cover the top for a few weeks if your cat scratches there.

Can I use it next to a power recliner?

Generally yes if the mechanism does not need the side space. Leave a small gap so the mechanism and buttons stay clear.

What if my sofa has no arms?

Use the table as a standalone scratcher and side table at the corner your cat targets.

My arm is 28 inches. What should I do?

The CozeCat's tallest option is 25.5 inches. Check how high your cat reaches. Many cats scratch below the top of the arm.

Measure your sofa arm height from the floor to the top of the arm. The CozeCat Side Table comes in three heights (21.5, 23.5 and 25.5 inches with the riser options) and two finishes, Walnut and Maple, so you can match both the arm and the room.
